31st al-Qurain Cultural Festival Kicks Off in Kuwait

The 31rd edition of the al-Qurain Cultural Festival kicked off two days ago at the Jaber Ahmad Cultural Center stage in Kuwait. The festival will continue until February 11th under the slogan "A Legacy that Renews.. and a Creativity that Never Dries Up". This edition honors the prominent academic Suleiman Ibrahim Al-Askari, who was chosen as the "Festival Personality" in appreciation of his cultural and intellectual journey and his distinguished institutional contributions. Al-Askari is the founder of the al-Qurain Cultural Festival, which began in 1994, taking its name from one of the ancient names of the State of Kuwait. Over the years, it has gained a driving force and become the main and most important annual cultural festival in Kuwait. The festival's activities are diverse, including poetry, narrative, plastic, and artistic events, in addition to intellectual seminars and lectures. Kuwait's Minister of Information and Culture, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, said in his speech that the festival has formed over decades "a vast space for the refined word and a platform for art and knowledge, an annual station where thought meets creativity, affirming Kuwait's belief that culture is a cornerstone in building the human being".
